The Avalanche acquired the #31 pick in the trade that sent center Ryan O’Reilly and winger Jamie McGinn to the Buffalo Sabres. However, the Avalanche traded this pick to the San Jose Sharks for the #39 pick in the 2015 NHL Draft, a second rounder in the 2106 draft and a sixth rounder in the 2017 draft.
The team also has the #40 pick for the second round.
