Columbus Clippers turn triple play in defeat

Without league leading hitter Yandy Diaz, the Columbus offense couldn’t get out of first gear, with no players collecting multi-hit games.

Eric Stamets had the only memorable day for position players, going 1-1 at the plate with two walks and a stolen base. He also showcased his elite defense, making an incredible leaping grab to set up a triple play.

Starting pitcher Adam Plutko pitched decently, allowing just one run in 5.1 innings of work while striking out four and walking four, but the bullpen proceeded to allow five runs to cross the plate combined in the sixth and eighth innings to blow it.
