Columbus’ late rally fell one run short.
Brandon Barnes and Bobby Bradley both went 2-4 at the plate with a run batted in each. Adam Rosales and Mike Papi also both reached base safely twice, going 1-3 with a walk each.
Veteran Evan Mitchell gave up two runs on six hits in 3.0 innings in his Clippers debut. Nick Good gave up another run on four hits in two innings while Henry Martinez gave up an unearned run.
The lone bright spot on the pitching side of the equation was recently promoted reliever James Karinchak, who struck out the side in the eighth inning.
