That was more than ample support for Bauer, whose career-high 14 strikeouts were his most since striking out 13 on Aug. 19 of last season against the Blue Jays, and a season-high this year for an American League pitcher. Bauer allowed three runs on seven hits and one walk in seven innings to pick up his fifth win of the season.
Matt Joyce drove in two runs off Bauer and Ryon Healy added an RBI double in the fourth. The A's scored another run in the eighth on an error from Indians third baseman Jose Ramirez.
