Tribe donating equipment to local baseball league

The Indians are pitching in to a local baseball league.

Cleveland announced Wednesday that it will donate new catcher's gear to the Garfield Heights Baseball League on Thursday night in reaction to a theft from the league's storage facility last week.

The Indians, working in conjunction with Louisville Slugger, will present the new gear to the Garfield Heights Baseball League on Thursday night. At least one Indians player -- and the team mascot, Slider -- will be on hand to present the donation to the league at Donovan Park at 6 p.m. Thursday.

The league has five divisions -- Pee Wee, Minor, Major, Colt and Pony -- that will be awarded new catcher's gear.
