You may have heard that Shohei Ohtani was a free agent?
Well, he isn’t any longer. And Friday’s reports, such as the one by Jon Morosi, about him being on his way to being a Toronto Blue Jay, turned out to be completely wrong.
He signed with the Dodgers on Saturday afternoon for 700 million dollars. The Guardians might spend that much total on payroll by the middle of the next decade. Maybe.
A meaningful portion of Ohtani’s contract is said to be deferred. He is yet to pass a physical with the Dodgers.
