CLEVELAND, Ohio - Sandy Alomar is staying with the Indians as first base coach after agreeing to a two-year deal with an option for a third year.
The Chicago White Sox, at the end of this past season, asked the Indians for permission to talk to Alomar about being their bench coach. The Indians granted one their AL Central rivals permission to talk to Alomar, but in the end he decided to stay with the Indians.
Alomar, a six-time All-Star catcher with the Indians, is one of the most popular players in Indians history.
