Replay gridlock ruins Sunday's thriller between the Cleveland Indians and Arizona Diamondbacks

PHOENIX -- Yan Gomes stood at second base and watched the madness swirl about him. Every once in a while he'd ask crew chief Ted Barrett what was the latest play being reviewed because no one seemed to know.

I am a replay advocate. I have supported it since it was partially installed late in the 2008 season, but what happened in the seventh inning Sunday was embarrassing. A good game came to a halt when both teams and the umpires tried to wear a hole into the replay system.

Maybe some of the 30,000 plus people at Chase Field knew what was going on.
