CLEVELAND: The visiting Tampa Bay Rays didn’t waste much time taking control of Saturday night’s game with the Indians.
In a matter of minutes, the Rays were leading following a three-run home run by Evan Longoria off Indians ace Corey Kluber with no outs in the first inning.
The advantage would never change hands as the Rays topped the Indians 4-1 before a crowd of 24,670 at Progressive Field.
Longoria’s homer over the left field fence gave Tampa Bay a 3-0 lead. Kevin Kiermaier opened the Rays’ first inning with a walk and Joey Butler followed with a single.
