AKRON, Ohio -- Designated hitter Joe Sever's hit a game-winning RBI double in the ninth Thursday as the RubberDucks defeated the Altoona Curve, 3-2, in a Class AA Eastern League game at Canal Park.
Catcher Eric Haase gave the RubberDucks a 2-1 lead in the seventh with a two-run double off Curve reliever Jared Lakind. But Altoona tied the game in the ninth with a sacrifice fly from Jordan Luplow off Akron reliever Neil Holland.
Altoona reliever Miguel Rosario struggled in the bottom of the inning, though, walking Mike Papi, then hitting Mark Mathias with a pitch.
