CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians have placed utility man Mike Aviles on the family emergency medical list.
The team made the announcement before Friday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Players can remain on the family medical emergency list for three to seven days.
Aviles is batting .288 with two home runs and four RBIs in 19 games. He has played at shortstop, third base and the outfield.
Infielder/outfielder Zach Walters has been called up from Triple-A Columbus. The switch-hitter was batting .239 with one homer and nine RBIs in games.
