How Marlon Byrd's Cleveland Indians tenure and, likely, major-league career came to an end with 162-game ban

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- After Tuesday's game between the Indians and Rangers, bench coach Brad Mills spotted Marlon Byrd packing up some of his belongings at his locker.

Mills called Terry Francona to see if the Tribe manager had any idea as to why Byrd was gathering his things. Francona had no idea, so he called Byrd. The outfielder and skipper live in the same downtown Cleveland apartment complex.

Byrd told Francona he needed to talk to him.

"What floor are you on?" Francona asked.

"No," Byrd said. "I need to talk to you. I'll talk to you in the morning.
