Columbus couldn’t get out of first gear Thursday with its offense. Kody Huff had the only decent day at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles. Christian Cairo also singled and walked to reach base safely twice while a recently-activated George Valera walked twice.
Starting pitcher Vince Velasquez gave up two runs on five hits with six strikeouts and four walks in 3.1 innings. The bullpen struggled as well, giving up an additional five runs the rest of the way.
