Danny Salazar's stay with Double-A Akron cut short because of barking shoulder

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Danny Salazar has suffered a bit of a setback during his search for answers to his pitching woes.

Salazar joined Double-A Akron in Portland, Maine, this week, as the Indians wanted the right-hander to work with Akron pitching coach Tony Arnold. The Indians placed Salazar on the 10-day disabled list, citing right shoulder soreness.

Well, Salazar reported shoulder stiffness during a throwing session. The Indians flew him back to Cleveland, where he underwent an MRI, which revealed some inflammation.

Tribe manager Terry Francona said Salazar will spend the next few days plotting his next steps with the club's medical staff.
