CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Michael Choice has yet to play a game with the Indians, but he's created an impressive paper trail.
Choice, 26, was invited to big league spring training by the Indians on Monday after clearing waivers and being outrighted to Class AAA Columbus. On Wednesday he was designated for assignment to make room on the Tribe's 40-man roster for right-hander Kirby Yates, who was acquired for cash from Tampa Bay.
In August, the Indians purchased Choice from Texas to give them a right-handed hitter in case they needed him for the stretch run.
