Chief Wahoo needs to go, sociologists tell Major League Baseball commissioner

CLEVELAND, Ohio - The American Sociological Association is calling for an end to Chief Wahoo, the controversial Native American caricature that serves as the Cleveland Indians logo.

The association sent a letter Tuesday to Major League Baseball Commissioner Robert D. Manfred Jr. to urge him to have the Cleveland Indians abandon their use of Chief Wahoo.

Manfred tole ESPN's Mike & Mike sports show in October that he plans to meet with the Indians after the season to discuss Chief Wahoo.

At the end the live interview about the World Series matchup between the Indians and the Chicago Cubs, co-host Mike Golic asked MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred about Chief Wahoo.
