Bryce Harper fight brings suspensions, discussion on brawl situations; Lonnie Chisenhall improving

CLEVELAND: Washington Nationals superstar Bryce Harper and San Francisco Giants relief pitcher Hunter Strickland on Monday started one of the more heated baseball fights in recent memory.

Strickland hit Harper in the leg with a fastball. Harper charged the mound and threw his helmet—unsuccessfully—at Strickland before both players landed punches, inviting a benches-clearing brawl.

This week, Major League Baseball suspended Strickland for six games and Harper for four games. Harper’s suspension has been since appealed and reduced to three games.

The incident has sparked a discussion about how the league should handle such situations and what kind of penalties should be handed down.
