Indians Rumors: Cleveland delaying contract extension talks with SP Corey Kluber

The Cleveland Indians don't appear to be rushing to put together a contract extension for 2014 AL Cy Young Award winner Corey Kluber, seeing that the team still holds four years of control under his current deal

Per SB Nation's Chris Cotillo, the Indians did not engage Corey Kluber and his representation about a potential new deal at this year's MLB winter meetings:

Kluber was absolutely dominant this past season, amassing 235 2/3 innings with a 2.44 ERA, 10.3 K/9 and 1.9 BB/9. While those numbers are eye-popping, the Indians appear content to ride things out perhaps through 2015, and then open negotiations at a later date.

The Indians could change course if they decide to keep his arbitration-year costs down, but it doesn't appear that they will do so at least for now.
