CLEVELAND, Ohio - From the moment it was announced in December, the proposal to pair public tax dollars with private money to renovate Quicken Loans Arena has been hotly debated.

The latest salvo was fired Wednesday, when a coalition of social advocacy groups and labor organizations announced they will seek to repeal the deal by way of a voter referendum.

Greater Cleveland Congregations, the Cuyahoga County Progressive Caucus, Service Employees International Union Local 1199, AFSCME Ohio Council 8, and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 268, will try to collect about 6,000 signatures of Cleveland voters within 30 days to put the Cleveland's piece of the deal before voters.
