INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- As LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers are attempting to draw even with the Boston Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals Monday night, a fundraiser has begun to build a statue for James in Akron.
Aaron Carey, who played basketball at St. Vincent-St. Mary six years after James, started a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the statue.
And when James was made aware of this -- the latest way to pay homage to one of the greatest basketball player's of all time, joining the numerous billboards that have popped up in various cities this year -- he was honored.
