Cavs guard J.R. Smith was cleared of all wrongdoing and the New York Police Department and district attorney’s office have closed their investigation, Smith’s attorney said Friday.
Smith was accused of choking a 19-year-old high school student around 4 a.m. in November while the Cavs were in New York to play the Knicks. He was never arrested in the case and the teen told police Smith ignored their photo request.
“We are thankful there was not a rush to judgment and the truth cameout,” said Alex Spiro, Smith’s attorney.
