Cavs Weekly: Cleveland Red Hot After First Month Of Season

The Cleveland Cavaliers have continued their dominance as the best team in the Eastern Conference, and are currently riding a four-game winning streak. That has the Cavs at 13-2, giving them a full three-game lead in the East and are tied with the Golden State Warriors for the fewest losses in the league. Kevin Love led the way this week with several quality games, resulting in him earning Eastern Conference Player of the Week honors for the first time since joining the Cavaliers. Let's get you up to speed with the week that was and the week ahead with our Cavs Weekly update:

Last Week:
After a four-day layoff, Cleveland returned to action on Wednesday to take on the Portland Trail Blazers, which proved to be a monster game for Kevin Love. He scored 34 points in the first quarter - the second most in NBA history - and finished with 40 points to lead the Cavs to a 137-125 win. It is the most points Love has scored in a game since joining the Cavaliers.

Cleveland then welcomed the Dallas Mavericks to town on Friday, and they promptly blew the Mavs out for the 128-90 win. The Cavs them hit the road for a four-game road trip that started Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers. It was a closer game than expected, but Kyrie Irving dropped a season-high 39 points to lead Cleveland to a 112-108 win. LeBron James also recorded a triple-double for the second time in the week (he also had one against Portland).

What's Next?
The Cavs return to the court on Tuesday night against the Milwauke Bucks, as they look to extend their winning streak. After that, Cleveland faces a tough stretch of games. A primetime home matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers awaits them on Thursday, followed on Friday with another nationally televised game on the road against the Chicago Bulls. Their road trip continues on Monday against the Toronto Raptors to close out the week. Read more Cavs news in the Chat Sports iPhone and Android apps.
