Report: Cavs "frontrunner" to sign LeBron James, clearing cap space for deal?

The Cavs rumors and news cycle has been swirling all offseason long, as the Cleveland Cavaliers have prepped and positioned themselves for the chance at facilitating a LeBron James return to his home state.

Now, according to ESPN's Chris Broussard, the Cleveland Cavaliers have emerged as the favorite to sign James - supplanting the Miami Heat as the team with the best chance to ink the four-time NBA MVP:

The Cleveland Cavaliers, per ESPN, are one of a handful of teams who were granted a meeting last week with LeBron James' agent, Klutch Sports' Rich Paul. Along with that, Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports is now indicating that the Cavaliers are doing their very best to secure an expiring contract in exchange for Jarrett Jack - in order to make room for a max contract to secure James:

Combine Kyrie Irving's five-year commitment to the team with the electricity surrounding #1 overall pick Andrew Wiggins, and Cleveland has emerged as an attractive and perhaps logical destination for James this offseason - so much so that media outlets tracked Cavs owner Dan Gilbert's plane for what had been rumored on Sunday to be a private meeting with LeBron James in South Florida (Gilbert denied this on his personal Twitter account.)

Either way, the Cavs have emerged as real players in a free agency chase that wasn't supposed to even happen according to most NBA experts - an intriguing turn of events that will keep everyone riveted until the story's most-likely abrupt conclusion.
