Instant Reaction: Nets Use Strong Fourth Quarter To Upset Cavs 106-98

Many expected Cleveland to open up a big lead on the Nets in the first half, but Brooklyn proved to be a tougher test than anticipated and held a 57-56 lead at the break. The game continued to go back and forth in the second half before Brooklyn pulled away in the fourth quarter to pull off the upset.

Turning Point:

The game was tied entering the fourth quarter, but Brooklyn opened the period with a 7-2 run to gain an advantage they held onto for the rest of the game.

Key Stat:

Brooklyn was able to go toe-to-toe with the Cavs because of the production they got from their reserves. The Nets outscored Cleveland 54-20 in bench scoring, giving them  a much-needed boost.

Cleveland MVP:

The Cavs' "Big 3" played well, but unfortunately they didn't get much help from anyone else. LeBron James recorded 24 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and five steals, while Kyrie Irving (26 points) and Kevin Love (18 points) had efficient shooting nights.

Brooklyn MVP

Brooklyn's bench production was headlined by Bojan Bodganovic's 18 points. Brook Lopez's near double-double (20 points, nine rebounds) and Joe Johnson's 20 points also helped in a big way.
