Instant Reaction: Bulls Hold Off Cavs, Take Series Opener With 99-92 Win

Chicago came out looking to make a statement early, and they did so by taking a double-digit lead in the first quarter. Cleveland cut into that lead in the second quarter, but the Bulls regained a double-digit advantage in the third.

However, just when it looked like the Cavs were done, they weren't. Kyrie Irving and LeBron James led a spirited comeback effort, but Chicago ultimately held on for the close victory.

Turning Point:

After Cleveland tied the game at 53 early in the third quarter, the Bulls went on a 15-0 run to regain control of the series. The Cavs managed to cut the lead to two in the fourth quarter, but Chicago never gave Cleveland the lead again.

Key Stat:

Chicago won this game because of the difference in three-point shooting. They shot 55.6 percent from beyond the arc (10/18), while Cleveland struggled from downtown, shooting just 26.9 percent (7/26).

Cleveland MVP:

Kyrie Irving was dynamite on the offensive end as he led all scorers with 30 points while dishing out six assists. LeBron James was also a factor all over the court, recording 19 points, 15 rebounds, and five assists.

Chicago MVP:

Derrick Rose was Chicago's best player all night, scoring 25 points while grabbing five rebounds and five assists. He was helped by Pau Gasol big double-double (21 points, 10 rebounds).
