In his weekly column for USA Today's For The Win, NY Giants punter Steve Weatherford posted some advice for Cleveland Cavs stars LeBron James and Kevin Love as the media continues to hyperfocus on the relationship dynamic between the two:
Thank the lord I do not have to deal with the level of scrutiny from the media that Lebron James seems to endure on a daily basis. I couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have every single move I made be dissected and analyzed. In regards to managing the relationship between Lebron and Kevin, if I were them I would stay away from commenting on the relationship.
They just need to block out the noise and go out on the court and compete. As a professional athlete myself, there are always going to be teammates that you are close with and teammates whom you might not be as close to. The key is that you maintain a healthy working relationship and have respect for one another. As long as Lebron and Love know that they can trust the other on the court, they should have no problems working together and competing for a championship.
Pretty solid and heady advice from one of the coolest punters the game of football has ever seen.
