Mark Maske of the Washington Post spoke with one NFL owner and several others familiar with the situation who all said that the NFL will not attempt to force Jerry Jones to sell the Cowboys over his efforts to shut down extension talks for commissioner Roger Goodell.
“I don’t know where this is coming from about stripping him of his franchise,” the owner told Maske on Thursday. “That’s ridiculous. That’s not going to happen.”
However, Jones could still be subject to a fine if he brings a lawsuit against the NFL.
