Jimmy Haslam says he had nothing to do with Tennessee Volunteers football coach search

BEREA, Ohio -- Browns owner Jimmy Haslam on Friday morning denied multiple reports that he was involved in the chaotic search for the University of Tennessee's new football coach.

Haslam has long been a booster of Volunteers football and has long-held relationships with UT athletic administrators and football people. He said Friday that he did have dinner Monday night with Vols legend and future Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Peyton Manning, who has been rumored as a possible Haslam hire to help turn the Browns around.

"If I said I had dinner with him Monday night, would that cause a big [media] ripple?
