BEREA: Browns coach Mike Pettine insisted quarterback Johnny Manziel is part of the franchise’s future and teammates of the former Heisman Trophy winner voiced strong support for him Tuesday following the second session of voluntary offseason workouts.

After spending more than 10 weeks in an inpatient rehabilitation facility for possible substance abuse, Manziel reunited with the Browns on Monday by reporting to team headquarters for the conditioning program. Pettine made it clear the organization has no intention to give up on Manziel despite his personal issues and disastrous rookie season.

“He’s very much in our plans,” Pettine said of Manziel, the 22nd overall pick in last year’s NFL Draft.
