CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Philadelphia Eagles announced Monday that league MVP candidate Carson Wentz is out for the remainder of the season due to a torn ACL.
The second-year quarterback, drafted No. 2 overall in 2016 by the Eagles, suffered the injury while diving into the end zone against the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday. The play was called back for a penalty. Four plays later the quarterback responded throwing his fourth and final touchdown, to receiver Alshon Jeffery.
Wentz walked off the field under his power before the Eagles won, 43-35, and was replaced by seven-year veteran Nick Foles.
