Browns re-sign veteran linebacker and special teamer Tank Carder

The Cleveland Browns are bringing back linebacker and special teamer Tank Carder, the team announced. Carder missed all of 2017 with a knee injury one season after earning special teams captain honors.

Carder, 29, originally signed with the Browns in 2012 and has played in 77 games, making him Cleveland’s most tenured player heading into the 2018 season.

Although most notably a special teams contributor, Carder was believed to have been in contention for significant playing time after Gregg Williams’ hiring signaled the team’s transition to the 4-3 defensive scheme. His knee injury sidetracked those aspirations, but he’ll continue that pursuit now that he’s healthy.
