The Cleveland Browns announced Saturday that they’ve promoted DB C.J. Smith to the active roster and waived DB Darius Hillary.
Smith, 24, wound up signing on with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent out of North Dakota State back in May of last year. He was on and off their active roster last year before Philadelphia ultimately waived him coming out of the preseason.
Smith returned to the Eagles’ practice squad before he was released soon after and eventually added to the Browns’ taxi squad.
In 2016, Smith appeared in nine games and recorded one tackle and no interceptions for the Eagles.
