Browns notebook: Starting center Cameron Erving hospitalized overnight with bruised lung

CLEVELAND: Browns starting center Cameron Erving suffered a pulmonary contusion and was hospitalized overnight for observation after Sunday’s 25-20 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the home opener.

A bruised lung can be a serious injury. It’ll likely to sideline Erving for at least a few weeks.

In 2013, former Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo had a bruised lung and missed a month of game action. Mingo suffered the unusual injury Aug. 15 in a preseason game and sat out the next three games (two exhibition and the regular-season opener). His first game back was Sept. 15.

In the midst of an unsuccessful attempt by the Browns (0-2) to come back against the Ravens (2-0), Erving exited the game with 55 seconds remaining.
