Browns notebook: Director of player engagement to depart, undrafted rookie retires and Joe Haden on hot streak

The Browns will have a new director of player engagement in the near future.

Jamil Northcutt, who has held the title since April 2014, and the franchise are expected to part ways in the coming weeks, a league source confirmed Thursday. The source spoke on condition of anonymity because Northcutt’s exit has yet to become official.

Northcutt succeeded former Browns tight end Aaron Shea, who was fired in March 2014. Shea held the job for three years. The reason for Northcutt’s impending departure is not known.

Northcutt previously worked with Browns General Manager Ray Farmer in Kansas City as a player development coordinator for the Chiefs (2005-08).
