Browns notebook: Backup center Ryan Seymour suspended four games for violating performance-enhancing drug policy

PITTSFORD, N.Y.: Browns backup center Ryan Seymour has been suspended without pay for the first four games of the upcoming regular season because he violated the NFL’s policy on performance-enhancing substances, the league announced Monday.

Seymour, 25, is eligible to participate in the remaining preseason practices and games, but he won’t be allowed to return to the active roster until Oct. 5, the Monday following the Browns’ Week 4 game against the San Diego Chargers.

When a player is suspended for violating one of the NFL’s drug policies, the league doesn’t disclose the substance in question.

“Although I did not knowingly take a substance that was on the NFL’s banned list, I do know that as an NFL player I must take full responsibility for everything that is in my body,” Seymour said in a statement.
