The Browns waived nickel cornerback K'Waun Williams on Monday as part of their cuts from 90 to 75 players.
All NFL teams must reduce their rosters to 75 players before 4 p.m. Tuesday.
The separation was foreshadowed by a controversy.
On Aug. 16, the Browns suspended Williams for two weeks and fined him over a disagreement about the health of his right ankle. The Browns thought he should have played in the Aug. 12 preseason opener in Green Bay, but he refused. The team said Williams claimed he would retire.
His agent said a doctor at the Cleveland Clinic told Williams on Aug.
