Catching up: Twenty-six years ago, Bill Belichick left as defensive coordinator of the New York Giants to become Browns coach at the age of 38.
At the time, Giants coach Bill Parcells promised me, “This is a real good coach you’re getting over there.”
Fast forward to today. Belichick has rewritten almost all the NFL coaching records, taking the New England Patriots to five Super Bowl championships in seven total appearances, with possibly more to come.
