Barnidge re-signs to stay for Browns 'turnaround'

BEREA, Ohio -- Gary Barnidge felt the Cleveland Browns gave him a chance and wanted to repay them for the opportunity.

As a result, he signed a contract extension with the team Thursday.

"I want to be part of the turnaround," Barnidge said of re-upping with a 2-10 team.

Terms for Barnidge's deal were not immediately available, and neither the team nor Barnidge would reveal the length of the contract.

"Gary Barnidge is probably one of my favorite players that I have ever coached. He really is," offensive coordinator John DeFilippo said Thursday before the contract announcement.
