The Latest Browns Rumors On Free Agency, Travis Benjamin And More

Original Story:

NFL Free Agency starts on March 9th, and the next few days will be full of NFL rumors. The Cleveland Browns will be the subject of at least a few of those rumors, as the team has nearly $50 million in cap space and a few notable free agents. With that in mind, here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the Browns.

Travis Benjamin Update
The Browns don't have many free agents hitting the market this offseason, but WR Travis Benjamin was one that they really wanted to bring back. It seemed like the Browns were close to a deal, but negotiations fell apart and Benjamin will now hit the open market. There's a chance Benjamin could leave this offseason, which hurt the Browns' already poor WR corps. If that happens, current Bengals WR Mohamed Sanu and Notre Dame's Will Fuller have been mentioned as possible replacements by Cleveland.com.

Browns And Robert Griffin III?
The Washington Redskins haven't cut Robert Griffin III yet, but they'll do so before March 9th. The Redskins are holding out hope they can trade, but that seems very unlikely. When RGIII hits free agency, at least 10 teams are interested in signing him, reports Mike Freeman of Bleacher Report. The three front-runners (for now) are the Los Angeles Rams, Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns.

Whether or not the Browns actually sign Griffin is another question, but it's an interesting option. Griffin is talented, but injuries and a possible diva attitude helped ruin his career in Washington. Perhaps QB guru Hue Jackson would be able to get the most out of Griffin. While this is firmly in the rumor category, a possible Griffin-Cleveland union is something to keep an eye out for.

Could Cleveland Pursue Adam Jones?
While Jones didn't do himself any favors with his playoff behavior that helped cost the Cincinnati Bengals a playoff win, he's fresh off a strong season. He'll be a free agent this offseason, and is one of the many free agents the Bengals have this offseason. When he hits the open market, many teams will be interested in his services, including the Cleveland Browns, reports Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Jones is 32 years old, but has a few years left in him. The Browns are hoping that Joe Haden returns to form after a rough 2015, but the team needs corner help. Tramon Williams and K'Waun Williams played okay, but Justin Gilbert is looking like a bust and Pierre Desir needs to develop.
