Browns Free Agency News And Rumors Roundup: Marvin Jones A Target, Mitchell Schwartz Update

NFL Free Agency starts on March 9th, and the next few days will feature several Cleveland Browns rumors. While free agency doesn't officially start until Wednesday, Monday and Tuesday are "legal tampering" days. That means teams can discuss contracts with any player, although a deal can't be signed until Wednesday. With that in mind, here are a few of the more interesting rumors and news tidbits on the Browns.

Update: 5:15 p.m. ET, March 7th

Browns And Stefen Wisniewski?
With center Alex Mack opting out of his deal, the Browns have expressed interest in center Stefen Wisniewski, reports the Akron-Beacon Journal. He last played for the Jaguars. He was the first pick by Hue Jackson after he took over as Raiders head coach in 2011. Wisniewski isn't quite as talented as Mack, but he'd be cheaper, is younger and is a quality player.

Browns Targeting WR Marvin Jones
The Browns need WR help and they're targeting one of head coach Hue Jackson's former players. Mary Kat Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer reports that Jackson also likes Mohamed Sanu, but prefers Jones because of his speed. Jackson wants Jones as his No. 1 or No. 2 WR and the addition of Jones likely wouldn't deter the Browns from adding another WR in the draft or free agency. In a down year for the free agent WRs, Jones might be the best option on the market.

Mitchell Schwartz Drawing Interest
The Browns' right tackle is set to hit the open market and he's drawing interest from several teams. According to Cabot, among the teams interested are the Buccaneers, Giants, Falcons and Vikings. All four are in need of offensive line help and have the cap space to make the talented Schwartz the highest-paid RT in the NFL. The Browns have that space as well and they want to bring back Schwartz.

Browns Tender Four Players
The Browns extended tenders to four restricted free agents Monday. They are WR Terrelle Pryor, LB Scott Solomon, DB Don Jones and OT Austin Pasztor. All four players received the low-round tender of $1.671 million. In addition, LB Tank Carder was re-signed by the Browns.
