Browns Coaching Rumors Roundup: Patriots Coordinator The Favorite In HC Search?

The Cleveland Browns are hard at work trying to find replacements for former head coach Mike Pettine and general manager Ray Farmer, with the bulk of the rumors right now swirling around the team's vacant head coach position. Here are the latest rumblings from around the organization.

Matt Patricia To The Browns?
The Browns' decision to hire Paul DePodesta from the New York Mets was a surprising move, but it was a signal that the team wants to embrace analytics. The hiring of DePodesta, who will have input on the coaching search, has led ESPN to speculate that Patriots' defensive coordinator Matt Patricia will be the head coach. He doesn't have the name recognition of Josh McDaniels, but Patricia will interview with the team

Patricia is a former engineer and he's a perfect fit for the Browns if they want to embrace analytics. ESPN even said hiring Patricia "makes the most sense" if the team is going to embrace analytics.

Browns Interest In Bengals' DC?
The Bengals have churned out several coaches in recent seasons, with OC Jay Gruden taking over in Washington and DC Mike Zimmer moving to Minnesota. The same might be true once again, as current OC Hue Jackson seems destined to return to the head coaching ranks. He's not the only coach getting interviews.

Guenther is just 44 years old and has been a Bengals assistant since 2005.

Only One Team To Set Up Interview With McDermott?
Panthers defensive coordinator Sean McDermott is a popular name for several job openings, as the Panthers' defense has been great this season. However, only one team has set up an interview.

It would not be a surprise if McDermott ends up with more interviews.
