The reception for Johnny Manziel during his first week or so as a Cleveland Brown has been decidedly mixed - at least in the media.

While Johnny Manziel has come out and said all the right things about how he needs to earn his place on the squad, the circus of celebrity which has followed Manziel from his days at Texas A&M has rubbed some people the wrong way.

However, head coach Mike Pettine has a very simple way of looking at the Johnny Manziel phenomenon that cuts through all of the noise:

By all accounts, Manziel is already putting in the work to "earn" that moniker again. While Pettine labeled his early work in rookie mini-camp as "inconsistent," Manziel seems to be adapting quickly while showing the willingness to learn.

If he continues on that track, Johnny Football may make his return to prove all of the doubters wrong.
