CHARLOTTE – No player embodies head coach Dabo Swinney’s development philosophy more fully than quarterback Christopher Vizzina.
A former five-star recruit out of Birmingham, Ala., Vizzina had his pick of college programs. As a freshman in high school, the 6-foot-4 signal caller began receiving offers from all across the country, from hometown schools like UAB to national powers like Notre Dame. Programs 20 minutes from home like Samford and 20 hours from home like Arizona came calling to court Briarwood Christian High Schools’ four-year starter.
At many places, simply committing might have earned him a starting role.
