CLEMSON – For the fourth consecutive year, Clemson women’s soccer team (1-1-2) tied No. 12 South Carolina (4-0-1) Thursday night at Historic Riggs Field as the rivals battled for what became a 0-0 stalemate.
Though the Tigers and the Gamecocks both had opportunities to knock in goals and potentially end a tying streak that has lasted nearly half of a decade, swarming defenses for both teams made sure the crowd at Riggs Field could not erupt with any emotion, joy or despair in Clemson’s home opener.
The first period quickly morphed into a defensive skirmish, with only two combined shots-on-goal from the Tigers and Gamecocks.
