Swinney on Not Beating Power 4 Team in Calendar Year at Home

Clemson hasn’t won against a Power 4 team at Memorial Stadium since Oct. 19, 2024 against Virginia.

Following the Tigers’ 35-24 loss to SMU on Saturday at Memorial Stadium, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked about not beating a power conference opponent in a calendar year at home, and how jarring that is to hear and to process.

“It’s jarring,” Swinney said. “Disappointing. It is what it is. Gotta do better.”

With Saturday’s loss to SMU, this marks the first time the Tigers have lost five straight home games to Power 4 teams since 1970 and 1971, when they lost six straight.
