With Clemson senior wide receiver Tristan Smith having spent his first two seasons at the JUCO level playing for Hutchinson (Kan.) Community College, many have wondered whether he might be granted an extra year of eligibility.
There have been several examples of players who have played at the JUCO level being granted extra years of eligibility, most notably Vanderbilt quarterback Diego Pavia.
Smith has been attempting to get that extra year, so during his press conference Friday ahead of the Pinstripe Bowl vs. Penn State, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney was asked how long the Tigers will wait on Smith’s eligibility, given it’s uncertain with a potential NCAA waiver.
