Roles Reversed: Clemson working on run reminiscent of 1990s Florida State

From 1981 to 1988, the Tigers finished first in the conference six times (though one ACC Championship was not rewarded due to probation) and won a National Championship. The 2020 Tigers are working on their sixth straight ACC Championship and a third National Championship in that span as they head to Tallahassee to battle the Florida State Seminoles this weekend. It’s a run that surpasses even what the Tigers did under Coach Ford in the 1980s. But it’s not unprecedented in ACC history.

Florida State joined the ACC in 1992 and won nine consecutive ACC titles. In those nine seasons (1992-2000), they played in five Orange Bowls, three Sugar Bowls, and a Fiesta Bowl, and were crowned National Champions twice.
