Clemson place-kicker Greg Huegel has shown a great amount of confidence and poised under a great amount of pressure he has faced throughout the season.
Normally, mental toughness is not a strong-suit of kickers. As a matter of fact, it’s the position’s Achilles heel in that you can see a very talented kicker never come through because of a lack of confidence. Many times, place-kickers will experience some kind of adversity and it, in many cases, ruins their careers. This is why we see coaches “icing” kickers at the end of games or kickers missing what seems to be a “chip shot” field goal.
