Former Clemson Star Signs Minor League Deal

Former Clemson star Seth Beer is back in affiliated ball.

Beer had been playing in the independent Atlantic League with the Long Island Ducks, but the first baseman has now signed a minor league deal with the Philadelphia Phillies.

The Ducks announced Monday that Beer’s contract has been purchased by the Phillies organization, and he’ll report to the team’s Double-A affiliate in Reading, Pa.

“Seth has done a great job for us thus far and is very deserving of this opportunity,” Ducks manager Lew Ford said in a press release. “We wish him the best of luck with the Phillies organization.
