Clemson’s contact with Summie Carlay began about a week after South Carolina pulled the trigger on an offer.
That was offer No. 1 for the 6-foot-5, 280-pound 2017 offensive tackle from Laurens. He’ll head up to Clemson this Saturday for the Tigers’ second Junior Day event of 2016.
“I would say I’m looking forward to meeting the coaching staff the most,” Carlay said. “I’ve heard a lot of great things about coach (Dabo) Swinney and coach (Dan) Brooks and coach (Jeff) Scott. I can’t wait to meet them in person.”
Whether or not Clemson pulls the trigger on an offer this weekend is an unknown, and that suits him just fine.
